Judy and Steve Ransom took an October trip to a boot camp in the desert. They came away with a new car.
The Ransoms, owners of Daystar Cleaning Company on Beck Avenue, traveled to Piranha Marketing’s 2004 Boot Camp Conference in Phoenix. They entered and won the company’s annual "Better Your Best" contest, beating out 11 other finalists. Piranha awarded the Ransoms a new 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. Judy Ransom was selected as the organization’s 2005 spokesperson in the United States and the U.K.
Daystar Cleaning has operated in Panama City since 1986, and Judy Ransom said customer service is the business’s top priority. Ransom said whether distributing free movie tickets to customers or using a monthly contests to donate money to favorite charities of commercial clients, Daystar Cleaning works hard on maintaining good relationships with its customers.
The Ransoms first attended Piranha’s boot camp in 2002. Judy said the Ransoms’ business was one of 10 finalists in the competition that year. Steve and Judy also participate in Piranha’s Platinum Plus mentoring program.
"What they teach us to do is to make your business lucrative, easy and fun," Judy Ransom said. The Phoenix boot camp drew over 500 people in the cleaning and restoration industry.
Piranha Marketing President Joe Polish said the momentum that had been generated with this year’s contest should bring 1,000 members to next year’s boot camp.
Polish said cleaning industry people from 15 different countries attended the boot camp. The company president said Piranha, in business since 1994, caters to more than 4,000 members worldwide. Speakers at the boot camp included Mark Victor Hansen, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Robert Kiyosaki, who wrote Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and Bill Phillips, author of Body For Life and recipient of the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s highest award. Polish said his company is very involved in promoting ethical means of marketing.
Daystar Cleaning’s embrace of Piranha’s marketing principles and concepts, combined with the company’s documented business growth over the past year, earned the Panama City company the top prize, Polish said.
"They’re just basically doing a fabulous job in their carpet cleaning business," Polish said of the Ransoms. Part of Judy Ransom’s duties will include speaking at next year’s Piranha boot camp, Polish said. He added that she may be asked to participate in other company events during the year, none of them mandatory. |
